The Friendly Center
| 1324 North Superior Street | The Friendly Center, in partnership with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, is a local agency committed to the development of the ONE Village neighborhood. Friendly Center got its start from Esther Flower, a settlement house opened by the United Methodist Women's groups in 1908. In 1923 Friendly Center opened as a community center to reach out to the north Toledo neighborhood. In the 1960's Esther Flower and Friendly Center merged, closing its residential services.
Today, the Friendly Center provides a major source of hope for the surrounding community. This is best conveyed in their purpose statement – "No neighbor will go hungry, feel alienated, alone or powerless."
